It may now be apparent that, so far at least, I have only posted positive reviews here; both new and archive. That was part of my idea with this blog when I started after 15 odd years of reviewing anything I was handed with I hope fairness and in a constructive manner. But I discovered over that period nothing was more soul crushing than either a genuinely bad album or, actually worse, another in the endless chain of generic ‘product’ made by actually decent musicians and all I could say was ‘it’s ok I guess if you like generic <insert genre> .’
Will this continue? At present yes. But it depends on how things go. At present I am not seeking out any old label or PR contacts, and any bands who approach me only do so knowing I have a history of being a fan in the past. So I review things I buy, things I like and things I want to share.
But you never know. I don’t know what is ahead. In the meantime my task here is to explain why the music I write about is worth your time amidst the endless torrent or releases.
It’s just me dancing in the ruins…
